Mission Ministry

This ministry encompasses a broad field of ministry responsibilities and opportunities.  It is both local and global in scope but it starts with a simple command.

Jesus said, “You are my witnesses.”  He didn’t say you are my interrogators, prosecutors or judges. He said, “witnesses.”  We are to tell the truth of what we have seen with our eyes, heard with our ears, felt and experienced of the love and transforming work of Christ in our hearts and minds.  It is not our responsibility to argue, sell, debate, cajole, manipulate or bamboozle people with the Gospel.  We are simply to be bold witnesses of what we know to be true about Jesus.

We also are a witness for Christ by participating in Christ’s mission both locally and globally.  We are committed to mission partnerships with local ministries that exhibit the heart of Christ and to missionaries and mission organizations that give a bold witness throughout the world.

We are committed to the national and global mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church and support multiple mission efforts and missionaries. We also send short-term missionaries and mission groups on mission trips from the church to learn and serve in Jesus’ name.

Missionary Families

At Prairie Hills, we support three missionary families who travel to different areas of the world to be bold witnesses of Christ and serve in Jesus’ name.

Chris & Jenny Hoskins: Long-Term Missionaries to Ecuador

Ministry:

~ Leadership Development

~ Theological Education

Prayer Requests:

  • Join us in praying for the next chapter for our family. It is still a little way off, but we find ourselves curious and perhaps a little restless as we anticipate another transition for our family when Chris finishes his PhD.

  • Pray for all those who will participate in METE.

  • Chris will be teaching at the NPTS Equip Cohort the first week of June.

  • Pray for Breck (grade 10) and Elsa (grade 7) as they finish their school year - that they would surround themselves with good friends, be in a supportive learning environment, and for protection in their classrooms.

  • Chris’s dissertation writing process. Pray for discipline in the midst of other ministry tasks and family life as he continues to study migration and the vital role the Church must play in providing care that transforms both.

  • For another season of The Welcome Garden CSA that is underway! We have been on the leadership team of this life-giving project and are grateful to be in community with the Ecuadorian immigrant community here in Nashville!
