Jesus School

Studying the Word of God together is so important. We reason together, pray together, laugh, and cry together. And we seek God together. We even try something new together! This is how we grow in our faith and in our call to be more like Christ.

Jesus School was created as a strategy for discipleship that includes everyone! The strategy is built upon the premise that we grow in 3 areas: Head, Heart, and Hands. Some of us are stronger in one area than another.

Jesus School is for all ages. All of us need to grow as disciples. We all need to study at the feet of Jesus. Jesus School has options for all age groups to learn and grow from God’s word and each other.

Student Ministries

At Prairie Hills the idea of “confirmation” or confirming our faith is an ongoing process of discipleship. Our confirmation classes meet once a month to discuss biblical learning and discussion. We also utilize three retreats for an “intensive” style teaching/learning method. Confirmation is not simply memorizing creeds and denominational literature but it is an equipping for students to continue their discipleship journey after “Confirmation Sunday”. Our confirmation class is open to all students from 6th grade through 12th grade. Our desire is to understand the “Grand Story of God and His relationship with His people” (otherwise known as the Bible) and our place in His story.

MISSION MINISTRY

This ministry encompasses a broad field of ministry responsibilities and opportunities.  It is both local and global in scope but it starts with a simple command.

Jesus said, “You are my witnesses.”  He didn’t say you are my interrogators, prosecutors or judges. He said, “witnesses.”  We are to tell the truth of what we have seen with our eyes, heard with our ears, felt and experienced of the love and transforming work of Christ in our hearts and minds.  It is not our responsibility to argue, sell, debate, cajole, manipulate or bamboozle people with the Gospel.  We are simply to be bold witnesses of what we know to be true about Jesus.

We also are a witness for Christ by participating in Christ’s mission both locally and globally.  We are committed to mission partnerships with local ministries that exhibit the heart of Christ and to missionaries and mission organizations that give a bold witness throughout the world.

We are committed to the national and global mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church and support multiple mission efforts and missionaries. We also send short-term missionaries and mission groups on mission trips from the church to learn and serve in Jesus’ name.

South Sudanese Ministry

The South Sudanese Evangelical Covenant Church and Prairie Hills Covenant Church began worshiping together in the early 1990s. Even though two separate services are held in order to honor the ancestral heritage and culture of the South Sudanese, many things are done together, including combined services for communion. We are one church.
